Patcher is so goated tbh. It's like the shader editor from Blender but for audio signals.

I spend way more time goofing off with formula controllers in Patcher than the devs probably intended lol

If you're wondering what the renamed Fruity Send at the bottom is, I'm sorta using it like an "if" statement if this were a programming language. When changing Frequency Splitter to 3-band mode, the 2nd band becomes the high band and there's no option to make it the mid band and just tack on a 3rd filter at the end of the spectrum... And you can't automate the send numbers for the bands. I had to essentially make it switch what effects Send #2 was routed to depending on which mode it was using. Super kludgy, but it's a feature that was otherwise not possible in the plugin itself.

It really reminds me of actual programming! ^-^

I gotta redo a track on the next album, because after some stuff that happened, the mixing is no longer accurate to how the lyrics make me feel. Not in a "happy-sounding song that's about dark/sad topics" way like Hey Ya, Kids, Pumped Up Kicks, etc. More like "the person who wrote those lyrics is not the same person I am anymore," if that makes sense.

Throwing on some really over-the-top distortion/compression on the drums and piano, at the very least. Recorded some extra improv layers, and added an entire new 2 minute section before the ending. Might even write a new verse, like a before/after timeskip in audio form. That sort of stuff, pretty much.

Just wanted to give an update since the only productive thing I was working on the past few days was code-related... but I'm definitely still working on the songs. Just hadn't coded anything useful in months cuz issues focusing, so it was pretty refreshing. Didn't want to interrupt the flow state or whatever, some of you guys prob know how it feels.

just started color, so obviously some stuff looks flat/off but yee this is starting to look nicer already. i'm STILL having certified skill issues drawing that damn keyboard stand, Leo's arms, and the guitar outline, though. :(

i now have infinitely more respect for people who draw pianos/keyboards a lot... that took me foreverrrrrr and it still looks awful, even though i used a straight line as the guide for the black keys. gold chains too, though they're not nearly as hard as keyboards. i just got lazy there tbh, will prob redo it.

and yeah, Mira got a haircut compared to the pixel art sprite... nice try but i'm not drawing curly variant knockoff rapunzel over here as my first drawing with people in it-- way too hard lol

so i was thinking of releasing parts of the OST so far as albums.

for the cover, wanted to do something serious and colored in n all that as opposed to my usual album cover "15-minute silly concept edit" clownery, cuz ya know, it's gonna be for a whole game n all that.

so i'm starting to learn digital....

and drawing people....................

maybe shoulda stuck to 1 new thing at a time but oh well lol this is pretty fun

any helpful criticisms? besides Leo's hood being too circular (people with hoodies look like that in-game, it's a stylistic choice) or anyone's hair looking weird (doing it later, it looked empty without some scribbles)

edit: i'm also conflicted on whether i should have 1 z or 2 zs for the restaurant name... on one hand, this is closer to "mozilla" for the joke, but on the other hand, the spelling perfectionist part of me goes bonkers just looking at it...

I shit you not, Newgrounds's little CD image picker interface on my last upload made me realize I should probably redo the cover art for the next album... The original cover was split into 4 squares in each quarter, but when picking a CD icon it looked ugly with lines like that so I zoomed it into just 1. It looked so clean and simple, almost nostalgic, so I redid the actual cover based on just that one image.
